High Speed Laser

There are many benefits to using lasers for metal fabrication. Some may think that if a shop has turret punch and press brake machines, that there is no need to have other types of technology to fabricate efficiently and save money. So we figured we would write today’s blog about the various benefits of using a manufacturer that has a high speed laser.

Here at VIP, we run into many fabrication projects where they either require custom tooling or low quantities. This is where a high speed laser comes in handy! Before we get into all the benefits of laser cutting, take a look at the video below: Continue reading

How To Join Metal Without Welding

In manufacturing, there are several ways to achieve a desired outcome of fabricating a part depending on the resources and material available. For today’s post, we will discuss how to join metal without welding. Welding alone is an art, especially if quality welding is needed. It takes experience and expertise to achieve a good quality weld. Not only is a skilled welder needed, but also the welding supplies. Not everyone has all these resources, so knowing how to join metal without welding can come in handy. It’s valuable to know other ways of achieving the same outcome since other ways may be less time consuming and also cost less. Continue reading

Chemical Film – Chromate Conversion – Yellow Iridite – Alodine

Since VIP has been in business since 1956, we have learned what a competitive manufacturing facility will need in order to cater to customers’ needs. Many companies require chemical film (also known as chromate conversion, yellow iridite, or Alodine) for their parts for a variety of reasons. As a result, Vista Industrial has invested in chemical film tanks in our 8,000 square foot in-house paint shop.We have the capabilities to do yellow/gold or clear chemical film.

Some of the advantages of using chromate conversion on metal parts include the following: Continue reading

Sheet Metal Forming

Sheet metal forming or bending is an art of its own. Many people do not realize how difficult it can be to form sheet metal. Since sheet metal has a thickness to it, it does not bend like a piece of paper. The thickness of the material causes the metal to shift and distort when formed. Especially if a sheet metal part has bends near a hole or an edge, it can be get difficult to achieve the right kind of bend without stretching the hole or bending a part straight near an edge. Therefore, a press brake operator needs to be creative in order to achieve the desired outcome. Continue reading
