The Importance of Prototyping

What is a prototype? A prototype is a sample or a model of a part or assembly. Many times companies have 3D models on paper of their part or assembly, which is also a perfect world. In order to test and make sure that the part or assembly can be manufactured and the function, form, and fit of the part are followed through, a prototype is made.

Many companies will also create a prototype in order to test the product to their customers. Instead of investing time and money straight into production, and the product not being what the customer wanted, companies will create a prototype to get their opinion. This is beneficial to any company who wants to grow steady. Whereas companies who want to put the pedal to the metal, will rush right into production, but many times there are too many mistakes in a design costing them time and money. Continue reading

VIP Awarded “Perfect Environmental Compliance”

Vista Industrial Products has been awarded for demonstrating 100% environmental compliance by Encina Wastewater Authority‘s Pretreatment Program for the calendar year of 2011. VIP was awarded because they had no violations of their permit, all VIP’s discharges were clean, all paperwork was correct, they were not late on any reports, they had a perfect annual inspection, and remained compliant with all industrial wastewater regulations! Besides VIP, only 14 other companies received the award of all the companies in North County San Diego. VIP was even personally congratulated by the City of Vista‘s Mayor, Judy Ritter, for setting such an excellent standard.

Is Metal Fabrication Art?

The surprising answer is Yes! Many people do not realize how much metal fabrication is an art. Sure metal fabricators have to learn many skills in order to operate machines correctly. So does someone learning how to play an instrument or any other type of artistic skill. Someone can learn how to play an instrument and have the proper instruction and tools to do so, but that doesn’t mean the person will play well. The same goes for metal fabrication! Experience and imagination play a huge part in how to properly fabricate metal.
